Introduction

This website contains a few projects that I found interesting to build and/or write about, without any global structure or any kind of organization. I also write a little about my research in mathematical physics.

I am currently assistant professir at Sun Yat-sen University, China, in the School of Science (which contains mathematics and physics departments).

My research works are mostly aimed at the dynamics of classical systems with angular momentum (intrinsic or not).

As a simple example, consider the trajectory of a celestial body. Usually, we reduce it to a point ("test particle"), and the only physical parameter we keep is its mass. This is of course an approximation, as there might be other physical parameters which influence the body's trajectory, in particular its angular momentum (for example, the Earth rotates around itself). Usually this approximation is good in that the other parameters do not influence the trajectory much, so it is usually fine to neglect the angular momentum. But if we want to have more precise calculations, we would need to take it into account.

I am mostly interested in the dynamics of photons. As an elementary particle, it has intrinsic angular momentum, in the form of spin (even classically!).

I obtained my PhD thesis in theoretical and mathematical physics Aix-Marseille University, more specifically in the Centre de Physique Théorique, near the end of 2020.

There are a few interesting pages on the website. The first one is the page where I describe all my publications in more details.

On this other page I have documented the process of building my own cloud chamber. I find this physics experiment fascinating, and it is not too complicated to reproduce it at home.

On this page, which is probably the most interesting page of the website, I built a tool to calculate the minimal distance between two points on Earth, for two Earth models: spherical and elipsoidal. There is also a 3D representation of the corresponding geodesic on a spherical Earth, as well as on different map projections.

Lastly, there is a page dedicated to another project, not yet finished. For this project, I have been collecting (mostly) continuously the atmospheric pressure for several years near Metz, France. This page shows a visualization of this data. One day I will analyze it with many details.
